SUNDAY, BLOODY SUNDAY

This song has been stuck in my head since the end of the Duke/Carolina game. From U2's 1983 album, War...a sampling from the lyrics Sunday Bloody Sunday.

And the battles just begun
Theres many lost, but tell me who has won
The trench is dug within our hearts
And mothers, children, brothers, sisters torn apart

Sunday, bloody Sunday
Sunday, bloody Sunday

Sounds like a chorus in the storied Duke/Carolina rivalry. With 18 seconds to go, Duke's Gerald Henderson came down hard on Carolina's Tyler Hansbrough resulting in a bloody nose for Hansbrough and an ejection and 1-game suspension for Henderson. After the game, Henderson said the results did not match his intentions. My words here, Henderson was either going to block Hansbrough's shot or foul him....hard.  I did not see the incident in person. I was out in our live truck getting ready to do a post game live shot. Judging by the reaction from the players in the Carolina locker room, they saw it as a hard foul rather than a cheap shot. But Tar Heel senior  Reyshawn Terry did say they'd love to get the opportunity to play Duke again. That would only happen in the ACC championship game. Judging by the way this ACC season has gone, it's a tough prediction to say who will be playing next Sunday in Tampa in the league's title game.  One would tend to lean in the direction of the 4 teams (UNC, Virginia, Virginia Tech and BC) with only 3 games to play. Can Maryland continue their impressive win streak with 4 more wins? Duke has been to 9 straight ACC title games...9 STRAIGHT!! But that streak is in serious jeopardy.  Hopefully we won't have another Sunday, Bloody Sunday.
