Tom Suiter: Sendek Leaving The Pack?

Posted Updated

Nothing like a little bloggin' on a lazy Saturday afternoon …

First, have you heard the news that N.C. State basketball Coach Herb Sendek could be the leading candidate for the Arizona State job? Some reports say the job is his for the taking.

Sendek, despite leading the Pack to five straight NCAA tournaments, has been under fire from many State fans because of the team's weak finish: two double-digit losses to Carolina and the blow-out loss to Texas in the NCAAs.

Sendek leaving on his own would be a dream come true for the so-called "Herb Haters."

Will it happen? Sendek has repeatedly said he likes his job and the area, but all this constant turmoil and divided fan base has to wear on him. It would wear on anybody. Let's see how it plays out.

Looking forward to the Final Four, which you can watch on WRAL, I like Florida over George Mason and LSU over UCLA in what could be an ugly defensive game. An all-SEC final would certainly validate that league, and of course, South Carolina won the Not Invited Tournament (NIT.) :-) I think it's about to strike midnight for Cinderella George Mason, but I thought that three times before.

The ACC men's teams bombed out, but not the women -- three ACC teams in the women's Final Four. Fans around here have hoped for a Duke-UNC championship game for years. They may well see one -- on the women's side.

The Hurricanes won the Southeast Division last night. Now, they need to get healthy for the playoff run. They have the talent and play well together. Will they have the healthy bodies?
