Tom Suiter: On The Women's Final Four ...

Posted Updated

I am looking forward to the women's Final Four games tonight. I like the women's games a lot. It's of course, a different game from the men's game, but a good game played by athletic players with a lot of intensity.

This year's Final Four in Boston is the ACC invitational. It's the first time in the women's tournament that three teams from the same conference have ever been in the Final Four. Carolina and Maryland is a match-up of two very athletic teams. Maryland beat Carolina in Chapel Hill to hand the Tar Heels their only loss of the season. Carolina got them back in the ACC Championship game. The second game has Duke against LSU. It was LSU that knocked Duke out last season in the Elite Eight.

I don't see Maryland beating UNC -- two very talented teams, but Carolina just a little more experienced. Duke-LSU is a toss-up. LSU has the women's player of the year in Seimone Augustus, but Duke has more depth and more balance and a little more size. They do need to shoot better than they did against UCONN because they won't dominate the boards against the Tigers like they did the Huskies.

Wouldn't you love to see a Duke-UNC women's final? I do believe there is a very good chance. I promise you this: these games will be a lot more interesting than the men's Final Four games last night.

Speaking of those, the tournament, which had been so exciting, came to an abrupt halt last night. No drama, no nothing. Florida was clearly better than George Mason, and oh man, did I blow the LSU-UCLA game! I was so taken by LSU winning the Atlanta regional that I kind of forgot they had no outside game and couldn't throw it in the ocean standing two feet from it.

And UCLA really put the pressure on. Did you see Big Baby huffing and puffing up and down the court? The Bruins will come after you, hard.

Championship game tomorrow night -- 9 p.m. on WRAL. Florida's good, but at the moment, I like UCLA. We talk about the teams around here -- UCLA's going for their 12th National Championship. The Bruins' 11 titles are one more than the entire Atlantic Coast Conference.

By the way, just had the best fruit drink! I juice a whole bunch of fresh grapes. Put the grape juice in with fresh strawberries, blueberries and bananas; blend it up with crushed ice. It is nirvana. Time for a Sunday nap -- nothing like it.

Check out the women's games tonight. You'll enjoy it.
