Jeff Gravley: Greetings From Buffalo

Posted Updated

Hello good folks, it's me, Jeff...You didn't expect a hello from Buffalo fans did you??? We have made it to Buffalo without being harassed by any Sabres fans but it's not game day either. It's been pretty sad to hear some of the stories of fan behavior coming from the Sabres side.

I give them great credit for drifting south in droves for Saturday's game 1 but buying a ticket, no matter what team you pull for, is not a license to act like an idiot. I can only go by the stories I've heard and I'm glad I didn't have to witness any of the buffoonery.

With that said, those Sabres flags are flying high here in Buffalo. But is is quite odd that here in a hockey rich city, game 3 of the Western Conference Finals isn't on the dadgum TV!! What a high stick for hockey that all of your final 4 isn't on an easily accessible TV network.

It will be interesting to see how electric the HBSC Arena will be for Game 3. I can tell you this, there will be no infiltration of Canes fans here in Buffalo. I'm hoping for a sprinkle here and a sprinkle there but Sabres fans stabbed those playoff tickets in 12 minutes!! Whatever the environment, I like the Canes chances of a split here in Buffalo. Having watched the 2 teams in the first 2 games, I just feel that Carolina is the better team...but that doesn't guarantee a series win.

Experience could be a factor in deciding this series and the Canes have a huge advantage in that area. You can't appreciate how fast Buffalo is until you see how quickly

they get the puck from one end of the ice to the other. The Canes defense has been solid at building road blocks and speed bumps and if that continues I like their chances to represent the Eastern Conference.

I'll be checking back with you later...I'm dying for some Buffalo chicken wings.
