Tom Suiter: Football Friday's Ready To Go

Over the years, one of the problems that crops up from time to time in doing Football Friday are the schedules.

I can’t tell you how many times that the schedule that we have says one thing when in actuality it’s just the opposite.

Twice this season we sent a crew to a certain school because our schedule said that’s where the game was being played, only to have our photographer make the dreaded call that there’s nothing but an empty stadium with no lights. Sometimes we are able to recover and find another game or we’re able to get our crew to the actual site. Other times we just have to drop a game.

Last week after I posted my weekly Football Friday blog, we received a call from a nice person telling us one of the games on our schedule was wrong. We had two schedules and each said that Southern Lee was at Triton. Unfortunately for us the game was at Southern Lee. Luckily, the call came in on Thursday and we were able to change things around. We weren’t able to cover that game because there was no other game near Southern Lee, but we were able to add another area game to our schedule.

We appreciated that call very much, and so I’m asking that if anyone sees something that’s not right on this weeks schedule, please let us know. It would be a huge help.

This week we hope to cover 28 games involving schools from 18 counties. Of course the schedule is subject to change.

Last week we had trouble getting the score from Warren County. We plan on covering their home game this week and would love a little help. It’s the home team’s responsibility to make sure all scores are reported, but sometime they drop the ball, so to speak.

So if anyone with a cell phone wants to let us know, it’s much appreciated. The more calls, the better, and if your school’s score is for some reason not making it on the air, please let us know.
