Tom Suiter: Another Big Week For Football Friday

Posted Updated

I want to thank Jordan High School's Athletic Director David Davis. His team is one of the eight schools in the 4a Piedmont Athletic Conference, which for years has been known as the PAC Six, and he’s always been a big supporter of Football Friday.

The PAC Six, now is an eight-team conference, and several of the sites that I use in my weekly research as I prepare for the show now refer to this league as the PAC Eight. So I figured okay, that’s what it’s now called. I should have checked, because it had been the PAC Six forever.

Mr. Davis e-mailed us to say that the official name of the conference is the Piedmont Athletic Conference, Division 6. In other words, the number of schools in the league has not changed the name of the conference. It is still the PAC Six. I appreciate very much this information and thanks to David Davis for taking the time to let us know. So for the rest of the season it’ll be “Let’s go to the Pac Six 4a Conference.”

Our plans this week are to cover 28 football games involving teams from 16 counties. According to our award-winning weather department, Friday night will be damp and cold. That's real football weather, so we hope the area will play Friday.

Here’s where we hope to have crews. Of course subject to change.

The only score we had trouble getting last week was from East Chapel Hill, who played a home game with Person. Our crews always give out cards with our number and ask for people to call. Also, the way I see it, it’s really the home team's responsibility to get the media outlets the score, win or lose. Football Friday's toll-free number is 1-888-472-9725.

Can you believe that they’re only five weeks until the playoffs? Wow, the season is moving too quickly.
