Apex might be the next Triangle town to plan a splash pad.

The town is in the process of developing a new 92-acre park, which will be called Pleasant Park. The town purchased the land, which sits off Pleasant Plains Road and Old U.S. 1, about six months ago.

Town park director John Brown said the park likely will include playgrounds, athletic fields and other amenities.

"I think there will probably be some sort of water feature," he said, mentioning the new splash pad Fuquay-Varina opened this month. "We've had some interest in that. We're just trying to figure it out."

A design charette, where the public is invited to share their thoughts and help generate plans for the park, is scheduled for 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 2, at Apex Community Center, 53 Hunter St. in Apex. If you're interested in a water feature or other amenity for the park, this is your chance to let your wishes known.

Cary also plans to open up a splash pad next year.
