Southern Pines daycare worker charged with injuring toddler

An employee of a Southern Pines daycare center was arrested Wednesday after a 10-month-old had to be taken to a nearby hospital with a head injury, police said.

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. —  

An employee of a Southern Pines daycare center was arrested Wednesday after a 10-month-old had to be taken to a nearby hospital with a head injury, police said.

Wendi Jean Hargrove, 35, of Aberdeen, was charged with felony child abuse inflicting serious injury. She was being held in the Moore County jail under a $75,000 bond.

Police said the child was hurt at Humpty Dumpty Nursery, at 1725 Richard St., and was treated at First Health Moore Regional Hospital.

No other details of the case were released.
