Soggy skies clearing as chilly air moves in
Steady rain that swept across the region early Tuesday is nearly gone, but chilly air is rushing in to take its place, forecasters said.

As much as a half-inch of rain fell across central North Carolina Tuesday morning through lunchtime. The rain made for a soggy morning commute, but few weather-related problems were reported.
Temperatures were expected to drop into the mid-50s on Wednesday and Thursday, with a slight warm-up by the end of the week, Gardner said.
"It will be a nice, bright sunny day on Wednesday, she said. "But we do have that cold air that will be pushing into North Carolina all day Tuesday and Wednesday."
