Smart Momma, the locally owned north Raleigh baby store, moved into its much larger digs on Glenwood Avenue in north Raleigh a year ago and it's celebrating with some sales.

The store, owned by Heather Burns, mom of two boys and a girl on the way (congratulations Heather!), offers specialty baby furniture, cribs, gliders, strollers, car seats, baby carriers, cloth diapers, breastfeeding accessories and more. It also provides ongoing classes including prenatal and mom/baby yoga, baby sign language, music classes, free playgroups, a new mom's group and other programs.

Burns started the business online in 2005 and moved her store to a small space in the Stonehenge Shopping Center on Creedmoor Road. The new store is now at 8601 Glenwood Avenue across from Carmax near I-540/Hwy 70. Read an earlier post about when the store expanded.

“We were able to offer so much more to our local customers, including our new classes, which started about nine months ago," Burns tells me. "We combined our warehouse space with our storefront, so you can get your goods right then and there. Our goal is to be a one-stop shop, as well as a magnificent resource to new parents in the Raleigh-Durham area.”

Starting Friday through Sept. 18, the store will have a celebration sale. Customers can get 15 percent off baby furniture, gliders, diaper bags and baby carriers; 20 percent off mattresses and bedding; and more deals on car seats and strollers. (Some exclusions apply).
