SMART Academy offers Beginning of Grade Camp for parents, students
The program is designed to help kindergartners to high school seniors and their families, who are in need.

The camp is 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, at the academy's main campus at 971 Harp St., in Raleigh. SMART Academy stands for Students Maximizing Academic Resources through Technology. It is run through Communities in Schools Wake, which partners with the Wake County Public School System to help students in need.
The program aims to develop the 21st century thinking skills of students in science, math and language arts for kindergartners to high school seniors, according to a SMART Academy email. It uses project-based learning, interactive instruction and small group instruction. It also offers math and English as a second language skill building during weekends, evenings and summer camps, along with field trips.
In fact, the first 100 people to register for this weekend's BOG Camp will get a free trip to the Museum of Life and Science in Durham after the camp with certified teachers. Lunch and transportation will be provided. Parents must attend the trip with their students.
