Judy Schachner, author and illustrator of the bestselling Skippyjon Jones series, will be at Quail Ridge Books & Music in Raleigh this week with her latest book - Skippyjon Jones Cirque de Ole.

The new book involves Skippyjon Jones as circus star and, I'm sure, getting into all kinds of adventures. Schachner will be at Quail Ridge on Wade Avenue in Raleigh at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday. The books are best for kids 4 to 7.

This is a signing line ticket event, which means you'll need to buy the new book from Quail Ridge to get a ticket to have her sign it.

It's a big week at Quail Ridge.

Betty Birney, author of "Mysteries According to Humphrey," for ages 7 to 10, will be there 6:30 p.m., Tuesday.

Emmy Award winning meteorologist Bill Evans will talk about his book "It's Raining Fish & Spiders," a one-of-a-kind book about weather, for ages 8 to 14, at 4:30 p.m., Thursday.

Later this month, young adult fantasy author Jasper Fforde will visit Oct. 22 with his book "The Last Dragonslayer;" Sharon Lovejoy will talk about her book "My First Bird Book & Bird Feeder," for ages 6 and up, on Oct. 26; and Marjorie Galen will talk about her book "Fashion Designer's Handbook and Fashion Kit," for ages 7 to 13, on Oct. 28.
