Sketch released of suspect in Hope Mills rape

Investigators said that a man forced his way into a home off Legion Road during the early morning hours of Nov. 24, 2010. The man assaulted the victim, tried to rob her and then fled on foot.

K-9 units with the sheriff's office last tracked him to a vacant home, near the victim's home.

Authorities described the man as black, in his mid-20s. He is approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and has a thin build. He has short, cropped hair, a thin mustache and goatee. He was last seen wearing a Roca-style jacket with a fur-trimmed hood, Timberland boots and jeans.

Hope Mills is just south of Fayetteville, where authorities haven't solved the rape and sexual assault of seven women between June 2009 and January 2010. All of the women lived in apartments or condominiums, and they were alone when a man broke into their homes between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
