ZEBULON, N.C. — A 30-year-old man was injured early Friday in a single-car wreck that involved alcohol on Pearces Road north of Zebulon, officials with the State Highway Patrol said.

Authorities said Charles Yarbrough Jr. lost control of his 1998 Ford Escort while traveling north on Pearces Road around 3 a.m. He ran off the road and into a ditch before hitting a power pole.

Yarbrough was taken to WakeMed Hospital with minor injuries. He was charged with DWI and reckless driving, authorities said.

The road was expected to stay closed for much of the morning Friday while Progress Energy crews work to fix the power pole.

No other information was released.
