RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police canceled a pair of Silver Alerts issued it late Tuesday for a man and a woman.

Rachel Gurley Martin and Timothy Ray Martin were running errands together when they were reported missing. They had been last seen near Glascock Street and Raleigh Boulevard, authorities said.

Police lifted the alert just after 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
