Silver Alert issued for Wilson teen

Wilson police were searching Monday for a 16-year-old who is believed to be cognitively impaired. Marissa Danielle Reed was last seen at 1003 Lee St., police said. The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for her shortly after 4 p.m.

WILSON, N.C. — Wilson police were searching Monday for a 16-year-old girl who is believed to be cognitively impaired.

Marissa Danielle Reed was last seen at 1003 Lee St., police said. The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for her shortly after 4 p.m.

Reed is white, with short, brown hair and brown eyes. She is 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 120 pounds, and was last seen wearing dark blue skinny jeans, a brown fur zip-up boots with pom poms and a dark red hooded sweatshirt with South Pole lettering.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call police at 252-237-8300.

Developed in 2007, the Silver Alert systems quickly notifies the public about missing, endangered adults who have cognitive impairments. It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
