<b>CLAYTON, N.C.</b> — Authorities canceled a Silver Alert for a missing Clayton man early Friday.

The body of Dennis Paul Beavers, 38, was along 1060 Hood Farm Road Thursday evening, according to the Johnston County Sheriff's Office.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.<br />

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.

According to the Danville Police Department, officers received a tip of prior animal abuse at a pet grooming store on Hairston Street in Danville. In the complaint, a video showed the employee, identified as 22-year-old Cassidy Gill, striking a dog in January and February. The video in the complaint was shared with other social media accounts, including PETA.
