RALEIGH, N.C. — A Silver Alert issued Monday for a 25-year-old Raleigh man has been canceled, police said Tuesday.

Johnathan Ray O'Brian Dunn, who is believed to be cognitively impaired, went missing from Tryon Grove Drive. The alert was issued Monday night, but was canceled around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Dunn was found safe. No other details were released.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
