Shooting Wounds 1 at Carrboro Grocery Store

Town police had taken a man into custody and were investigating the incident that happened about 6 p.m. Monday.

CARRBORO, N.C. — Police Monday night were investigating a shooting at a Food Lion grocery store. One person was shot, and police took a suspect into custody at the store.

The incident happened about 6 p.m. at the store at Carrboro Plaza on N.C. Highway 54 West, officials said.

Police withheld information about the case, including the names of the victim and the man they arrested and the victim's condition.

Emergency Medical Service personnel rushed the victim, who had a gunshot wound in the back, to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Witnesses had described the person who fired the shot, and police took a man into custody shortly after arriving at the scene.
