ABERDEEN, N.C. — A 2-year-old Hoke County boy was rushed to First Health Hoke Campus Monday morning after being attacked by three dogs, Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said.

Deputies responded to the Aberdeen home where the attack happened at about 11:30 a.m.

Peterkin said it appears the child, identified as Aaidyn Lang, was playing outside at his aunt's house and in sight of his mother when he was attacked.

Peterkin said three dogs were on the property and all were tethered. They believe the boy's mother went inside to check on her sister's child, who she was babysitting, and Lang wandered into the dogs territory.

The boy suffered severe injuries to his head and neck, and was in critical condition.

No charges had been filed Monday night and Animal Control would not comment on what will happen to the dogs.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
