Sex trafficking bill goes to the governor

A bill requiring sex-offender registration for human trafficking is on its way to the desk of Gov. Pat McCrory. 

Supporters say that, in most cases in which minors are being trafficked, the intended purpose is sexual servitude. But that can't always be easily proven when law enforcement officers catch traffickers en route to a destination. 

The measure received unanimous support in the House Tuesday.  It had already passed the Senate, also on a unanimous vote.

Rep. Susi Hamilton, D-New Hanover, called the measure "the beginning of a very important discussion in North Carolina."
