FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A registered sex offender working for an amusement ride company was arrested at the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival for a probation violation.

In a Facebook post by Cumberland County Sheriff Early Butler, the sheriff said the Cumberland County Sex Offender Registration Enforcement office received a phone call on April 19 for a request to locate Timmy Lane Walters, who was on probation in Scotland County.

Detectives found that Walters was working for Michaels Amusement, which is based in Cumberland County. Walters had been working as a ride operator for the company.

Authorities said Walters was found and arrested in the area of the Dogwood Festival used to set up ride equipment.

Walters was charged with failure to register his new address with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office when he move to the county as required by the North Carolina sex offender registration law. He was turned over to Scotland County for the probation violation.
