GARNER, N.C. — Seven people escaped from an early-morning fire in a mobile home in a Garner neighborhood Friday that authorities are calling suspicious.

A woman and six children were home when the fire broke out at 3408 Silver Pines Circle, off Jones Sausage Road, around 3 a.m.

Garner Volunteer Fire Department Chief Deputy Matt Poole said that the cause of the fire hasn't been determined, but investigators are treating it as suspicious.

The fire damaged the storage area in the rear of the home, where it started. The rest of the home received smoke damage.

The Red Cross was helping the family find temporary shelter until they can return to the home.
