Services held for Waffle House waitress
Ms. Betty, as she was known, was killed Wednesday while driving home from work when, authorities said, a drunken driver crossed the center line and hit her head-on.
Posted — UpdatedWARRENTON, N.C. — Family and friends attended services on Saturday for Betty Mathis Moody, a 76-year-old Waffle House waitress killed on Wednesday.
Services were held at Blaylock Funeral Home in Warrenton.
Moody worked for the past 28 years at the Waffle House on Hillsborough Street. She made the 80-minute commute five days a week from her home in Warrenton to Raleigh.
On Wednesday, Moody was driving home on U.S. Highway 401 in Wake Forest, when state troopers said, a car driven by Chad Rodman, 37, crossed the center line and collided with hers. She died from injuries sustained in the wreck.
Rodman was charged with driving while impaired and death by vehicle.
Moody is survived by two daughters, two sons and 11 grandchildren.
