CARY, N.C. — Cary police are working to reunite dozens of stolen power tools with their rightful owners.

Police said power tools such as saws, drills, sump pumps and landscaping equipment remain unclaimed.

“We would like to return these items to their rightful owners as soon as possible, which is why we’re asking anyone who may be missing tools to come forward,” said Cary police Capt. Dave Wulff.

Authorities recovered the tools in July during a search warrant of the residence for Carlos Fernandez Mejia, 33, of Lynnford Drive in Apex. Mejia was arrested and charged with crimes that occurred in Cary, including possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for sale. Additional charges are pending related to the stolen items.

Wulff said there were initially 119 unidentified tools, but police were able to return three tools to their owners.

If you believe your tools were stolen and may have been recovered, you can contact the Cary Police Department at (919) 380-2772 or (919) 319-4516.
