CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Town of Chapel Hill is offering a $250 reward for the return of a piece of art stolen this month from the Chapel Hill Museum.

The orange sculpture, entitled "Landing," was initially noticed to be gone around July 8, but it wasn't reported missing until Wednesday, the town's public art coordinator, Steve Wright, said.

The 6-foot-tall by 5-foot-wide orange urethane sculpture of a girl jumping is valued at $16,000 and was on lease from the artist, Cecilia Lueza, of St. Petersburg, Fla.

Anyone with information about the sculpture can contact the Chapel Hill Public Arts Office at 919-968-2749, 919-968-2750 or info@chapelhillarts.org.

The Chapel Hill Museum, which opened in 1996, closed earlier this month because of financial issues.
