Scotland Neck man accused of fraud
A joint investigation between the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina Department of Insurance led to the arrest of a Scotland Neck man on fraud charges.

Jackie Lynn Braddy, 36, from the Scotland Neck area reported to the sheriff’s office that his Cub Cadet riding lawn mower had been stolen on July 5.
According to the investigators, Braddy had a roofer do some work on his house. The insurance company sent a check to Braddy and he forged the roofing company’s name on the check and cashed it, investigators said.
Braddy gave the Cub Cadet riding lawn mower to the owner of the roofing company for payment, investigators said.
Braddy then filed allegedly filed a fraudulent insurance claim with his insurance company.
Agent James Ayers with the North Carolina Department of Insurance arrested Braddy on fraud charges. He was being held in the Halifax County Jail under a $5,000 bond.
The sheriff’s office also charged Braddy with forgery of endorsement and filing a false police report. Braddy was being held under a $2,500 bond for those charges.
