Here's a fun and educational Halloween activity for kids and their parents ...

As part of their weekly Thursday evening events, the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh will offer Halloween Potions and Goo from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Oct. 22. Participants will explore the chemistry of fake fluids, potions and goo, according the event description. They'll learn why the substances act the way they do and take home some Halloween-themed recipes.

Registration is required for this one. And, if not enough people sign up, they could cancel it. So if you want to go, sign up now. Kids must be at least 8. And, if they're under 15, they must be with an adult.

The cost is $20 for a parent/child pair. Each additional family members is $10. Refunds only are available if the museum cancels.

The museum's website has registration information and more details.
