Here's something handy to know about if you're planning a long day at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences ...
The Daily Planet Cafe inside the museum's Nature Research Center now has a new online ordering system for speedier breakfast and lunch orders. By going through the cafe's website, diners can click on the "Order Online" button in the upper right corner of the home page.

From there, they can order food and drinks, select a pick up time and pay online with a credit card. Then, they can just bypass the ordering line and pick up their order at the end of the beverage counter.

The cafe, which offers a full breakfast and lunch menu, is popular with museum goers, but it also pulls in a lot of downtown workers from the state government complex and other office buildings. I am always surprised to see how busy it is in there.

Bonus: The food is good and there's a nice selection for kids. Menu items include French toast, pancakes, burgers, wraps, salads and more, including coffee, baked goods and smoothies.

It's open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Wednesday; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

I could see logging in your order in the morning as you walk around the museum so lunch is ready when you are.
