School Daze

Posted Updated

This past weekend we aired an instlallment of Headline Saturday on the proposed bonds for Wake County Schools and the possibility of a huge property tax increase should the bonds pass.

The email response to the program was powerful. From both sides, people complained. Some about about the possibility of higher taxes, others about the complainers.

One thing is certain, Wake County Commissioners and school board members and the new superintendent have their work cut out for them.

Here's a sample of some of the email:

"How many times do the people of Wake County have to be hit over the head? The reason the schools are in crisis is because it was planned that way."
"A bond issue is the only solution."
"I was very disappointed in Mr. Crabtree. He is supposed to be a journalist and it seemed like he already has his mind made up instead of asking the tough questions he needed to ask."
"You did a great job keeping the discussion on the road."
"I don not want my taxes increased until we have year round schedules."
"They're all a bucn of crooks!"

Like I said, much work remains to be done.
