RALEIGH, N.C. —

A school bus driver was fired after crashing into several cars in Raleigh last week, Wake schools spokesman Michael Evans said Tuesday.

Police say Lamount Lynch, 21, of Wendell, was driving the bus 20 miles over the speed limit when he sideswiped three cars, then hit a stopped car in front of West Millbrook Middle School on Strickland Road on Thursday.

The bus was empty.

A mother and her toddler were inside one of the cars but were not seriously injured.
