<b>CAMERON, N.C.</b> — A former Moore County school bookkeeper has been charged with stealing more than $15,000 from the New Century Middle School in Cameron.

Pruitt resigned her position at New Century after a December audit revealed discrepancies in the school's finances. The audit found more than two dozen instances in which money was missing or was used to make purchases.
