Sanford police: Teen charged with shooting

A Sanford teenager was charged with the shooting of another teenager at a business.

SANFORD, N.C. — A Sanford teenager was arrested on Tuesday after police said he shot a another teenager in the chest.

Adam Devon Crawford, 17, of 121 Pack House Road, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a handgun by a minor. He was given a $100,000 secured bond.

Sanford police officers responded to a business on Charlotte Avenue in Sanford in reference to a shooting, according to a news release from the police department. Officers located the victim, 17-year-old Kennedy Petty, at Central Carolina Hospital. Petty sustained a single gunshot wound to the upper chest area.

Kennedy was later transferred to UNC Hospitals where he is listed in stable condition.
