Sampson County authorities searching for missing 69-year-old woman

Sampson County authorities were searching early Thursday for a missing 69-year-old woman who is believed to be suffering from a cognitive impairment.

GARLAND, N.C. — Sampson County authorities were searching early Thursday for a missing 69-year-old woman who is believed to be suffering from a cognitive impairment. 

The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for Stannie Mae Brunson Gibson at about 1:15 a.m. after she went missing from a home in the 200 block of Gibbs Road in Garland. 

Gibson is black, stands 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 145 pounds. She has medium-length gray hair and brown eyes. Authorities said she has a mole on the right side of her face beneath her nose. 

It wasn't clear what Gibson was wearing when she disappeared.

Gibson could be headed toward Baltimore, Md., in a white 1999 Honda Civic with North Carolina license plate BMY2895, authorities said.
