Sample insect cuisine at BugFest
This annual celebration of insects at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences is Saturday.

In the mood to try some meal worms? Maybe, a cricket covered in chocolate?
From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, the museum and surrounding areas will be turned into bug central. The Nature Research Center, which opened earlier this year, will also join the fun with more than 100 educational stations, presentations, displays and live music.
The theme for this year's 16th annual festival is the praying mantis, but you will have a chance to learn about a variety of bugs, including bees during a special beekeeping workshop.
One of the highlights every year is Café Insecta, where local restaurants and businesses use bugs as the main ingredient. This year's participants are Buku, Willmoore Café, Rocky Top Hospitality, Market restaurant and the Chef’s Academy Culinary School. The cafe opens at 10:30 a.m. outside of the museum and closes when food runs out. Best of all, it is free!
And just in case you aren't a big fan of the bug cuisine, there will be food vendors on site.
From 5 to 7 p.m., evening activities will include a street festival with live music, street performers and more.
