Salvation Army in Durham still needs donations
The Salvation Army in Durham, Orange and Person counties is needing some last-minute help from the community to help fulfill the holiday wishes of local children.
Posted — UpdatedMore than 2,200 children are signed up for the nonprofit's Angel Tree program.
The Salvation Army will continue to collect and distribute gifts until Tuesday.
Donations can be dropped off at the Salvation Army Corps office located at 909 Liberty St. in Durham.
"Every day, we continue to receive phone calls from families asking for Christmas assistance and hoping we can help," said Martin Banning, director of resource development at the Salvation Army. "Our ability to serve these families is dependent upon the amount of toys we are able to collect between now and Christmas Eve. The hardest thing for us, is telling a family we cannot help them this year."
