RALEIGH, N.C. — Saint Augustine's University administrators said Wednesday they are considering an acquisition of a four-year, historically black college in Virginia.

The executive committee of the university’s Board of Trustees met Tuesday with their counterparts at Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Va., to discuss the acquisition. They agreed to move ahead with joint management of Saint Paul’s operations starting Jan. 1.

Administrators said a Saint Augustine's campus will be established at the Saint Paul’s site. The Virginia school recently lost its accreditation after a long battle with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
