Roommates die in Fayetteville crash

Two men died Sunday in Fayetteville when their speeding car crashed into an oncoming car, Fayetteville police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Two roommates died Sunday in Fayetteville when their speeding car crashed into an oncoming car, Fayetteville police said.

According to investigators, Nickolas Hayden, 21, lost control of his 1998 Honda Civic while going west on Morganton Road and hit an eastbound 2011 Hyundai around 3:30 p.m.

Hayden and his passenger, Russell Zachary Snapp, 21, both of Fayetteville, died at the scene, police said.

Hayden, a native of Fayetteville, was a special forces soldier stationed at Fort Bragg. He was assigned to the Group Service Support Company, Group Support Batallion, 3rd Special Forces Group. He is survived by his brother and parents.

The Hyundai driver, Blaine Hull, 28, of Hope Mills, and his passenger, Stevie Rivenbark, 25, of Fayetteville, suffered serious injuries. They were in fair condition at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center early Monday.
