Rocky Mount toddler attacked by pit bull

A 1-year-old boy was attacked by a male pit bull inside a Rocky Mount home Thursday morning, authorities said.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A 1-year-old boy was attacked by a male pit bull inside a Rocky Mount home Thursday morning, authorities said.

The child sustained non-life threatening injuries after he was bit while inside 708 Lincoln Drive at about 11 a.m., Rocky Mount police said. He was transported to Nash-UNC Hospital.

Charges are pending, said police, adding that other animals were removed from the home due to their condition. The Edgecombe County Department of Social Services also responded to the home, per the request of police.
