Rocky Mount police warn of magazine sellers
Rocky Mount police have ordered a group to stop selling magazine subscriptions door-to-door and charged its leader.
Posted — UpdatedPaul Kristian Ferrell was cited this weekend for soliciting without a permit, a city ordinance violation.
Police said that Ferrell and 16 other people working for American Circulation Enterprises prompted reports of suspicious people as they went door-to-door. Officers have ordered the workers to desist several times.
Two of the workers – Jaime Rivera Laureano and Brant Allen Jacobs, both 21 – were arrested Saturday on charges of taking a joyride in a golf cart belonging to a country club.
The Better Business Bureau has given a D rating to the American Circulation Enterprises, based in Michigan City, Ind. The BBB of Northern Indiana has received 35 complaints about the company in the past three years.
Anyone seeing the group selling magazines should call police immediately.
