Rocky Mount police are investigating a series of home break-ins that occurred within an hour of each other Tuesday morning.

The four break-ins happened in the area of South Washington Street, Rosewood Avenue and Parkridge Court and between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Two of the break-ins on South Washington Street were neighboring residences, according to police reports.

Investigators said that someone saw a man trying to get into the back door of the residence on Parkridge Court.

Verlean Phillips said she returned home from her third-shift job to find that someone had tried to kick in the door to her and a brick thrown through a window. Her cell phone, wallet and jewelry were gone, she said.

Authorities are unsure if any of the cases are connected.

They did arrest a man for three other break-ins in another part of the city but said it does not appear the two sets of cases are linked.
