ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Police said a Rocky Mount man died after being shot late Monday on his front porch.

Officers responded to 132 Ashland Ave. at about 11 p.m. and found Fredrick Jones, 29, wounded. Paramedics were unsuccessful in their efforts to stabilize him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they believe robbery could be the motive for the shooting, and they don't believe it was a random act of violence.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Rocky Mount Police Department at 252-972-1411 or Twin County Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111.
