Roanoke Rapids man charged with rape, kidnapping, indecent liberties

Halifax County authorities arrested a Roanoke Rapids man after an alleged sexual assault.

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — Halifax County authorities arrested a Roanoke Rapids man after an alleged sexual assault.

Cpl. James Rawls responded to a call in reference to an alleged sexual assault on Lone Oak Road.

Authorities later arrested Kennedy Edmonds, 41, and charged him with statutory rape, first-degree kidnapping and indecent liberties with a minor.

He was in the Halifax County Jail under a $150,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 27.
