ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — Roanoke Rapids city leaders consulted lawyers Monday to see how much they are required to pay singer Randy Parton.

Parton, who used to have his name on the theater in town, was dismissed from his singing duties in November.  Under the contract, Roanoke Rapids must pay Parton $250,000 a year, regardless of whether he performs.
