The Nationwide Tour's Rex Hospital Open will include a free Kids' Clinic next Tuesday offering golf instruction for kids ages 8 to 18.

The clinic, which is free and open to the public, is held in conjunction with The First Tee of the Triangle, which seeks to teach young people the game of golf while building character.

The clinic is from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, at TPC Wakefield Plantation. Nationwide players, First Tee volunteers and GolfTEC teaching professionals will lead small groups.

Space is limited to the first 100 participants and registration is required. To register, go to First Tee's website. I was told this morning that there are still some spots available.

The Open runs from May 31 to June 3 and includes other family friendly activities. They include an 8K road race and family fun run on Saturday; the Junior Invitational featuring young golfers on Sunday; a Family Fun Day on June 2; and a Military Appreciation Day on June 3.

The Open has raised more than $6.2 million to support programs and services at Rex.
