Reward Increased in Durham Police Shooting
Authorities increased to $5,000 the reward for information leading the arrest of a suspect in the shooting of a Durham police officer.

The U.S. Marshals Service announced a reward of $2,500 on Monday. That is in addition to another reward of $2,500 being offered by the Durham Crime Stoppers.
Authorities are searching for Kevin Burnett "K.J." Johnson, 27, of Concord Street. He is known to frequent Concord Street, Martha Street, Baycreek Apartments at 1309 Hudson Avenue, Belmont Drive and the Cornwallis Road housing community.
Police said Johnson was involved in a break-in at 1410-A Cherrycrest Drive on the night of Sept. 23. Officer D.B. Vereen confronted two suspects at the back of the house, and they fired on him.
Vereen was shot in the back and the arm. He was treated at Duke University Hospital and is recovering.
Johnson is charged with second-degree burglary, aggravated assault on a law-enforcement officer with a firearm and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.
One suspect, David Wendale Williams, 22, was arrested after a 90-minute standoff at house in Burlington on Sept. 28. Elwanda Robertson, of Durham, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact of a felony.
