RALEIGH, N.C. — Rep. Yvonne Lewis Holley, D-Wake, is serving her first term as a member of the General Assembly. Asked what has surprised her so far, Holley says: e-mails.

"The e-mails are amazing, and everyone is passionate is about their issue," Holley said.

A member of the House Finance Committee, Holley said she hasn't yet taken a position on the looming tax reform debate.
Holley is the daughter of long-time WRAL broadcaster J.D. Lewis.

Asked what one thing she'd like to accomplish before the end of her term, Holley said she'd like to help improve access to mental health care.

"It's an understanding of the issue ...that we get help and that we are preventive, and stop being so reactionary after the fact," she said.
