Red Cross helping nearly 30 people after Durham apartment fire

The American Red Cross is helping 11 families who had their homes destroyed in a fire on Chapel Hill Road on Tuesday morning.

DURHAM, N.C. — The American Red Cross is helping 11 families who had their homes destroyed in a fire on Chapel Hill Road on Tuesday morning.

The fire burned 14 units at Valley Terrace apartments after starting on the ground level and spreading to the attic area. Twenty eight people (11 families/households) were displaced.

There were no injuries.

The Durham fire department responded to the blaze, which started just after midnight. It took around 45 minutes to extinguish the fire.
