Raulston Arboretum opens spring 'egg' hunt
Don't head over to the JC Raulston Arboretum expecting to find a bunch of candy-filled plastic Easter eggs for its Spring Egg Hunt.
Posted — UpdatedBut this annual event, which opened this week and runs through Sunday, is a fun twist on the holiday activity. Instead of tiny eggs scattered across the arboretum in west Raleigh near N.C. State, you'll find a handful of big cutout wooden ones with letters on them.
The goal is to find the wooden eggs, unscramble the letters and come up with the answer to a nature-related question. It's a fun, free and quick activity ... especially once it starts warming up a bit.
It happens 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., weekdays; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday; and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday. Be sure to start the hunt at the Bobby G. Wilder Visitor Center to pick up your answer sheet.
