RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh woman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly embezzling money intended for charity, the State Bureau of Investigation reported.

Kimberly Douglas Lane, 48, was working for the North Carolina Department of Revenue in August when $6,188.90 in donations from state employees were reported missing from two accounts. The workplace contributions were supposed to go to various charities.

SBI investigators said an audit confirmed the money was missing from the accounts, for which Lane served as treasurer.

Lane turned herself in at the Wake County jail and was released on a written promise to appear in court. She also repaid the money, investigators said.
